Music To Your Ears, Cancer To Your Mind?

Music To Your Ears, Cancer To Your Mind?

Hey guys.
This is a sensitive subject, and so I was a bit reluctant to do a blogpost on it. A lot of people have a lot of different views concerning music and the kind of music we should listen to as Christians.

I cannot say listen to this, and don’t listen to this. No. All I have to say is, discern. We have to constantly discern.

Music is such a powerful tool, it really shouldn’t not be underestimated.

Don’t believe me? Wanna see how powerful music it is? I’ll show you.
1 Samuel 16: 14-23 (I’ll be paraphrasing so check it out in your free time) talks about King Saul, and how he had an evil spirit that used to trouble him.
In response to this, King Saul and his servants decided to look for a person who could play the harp, because they knew that music would relieve him of this affliction.
And so they chose David. When His servants listed the attributes that caused them to choose David, one of them was – The Lord was with Him. (I’ll come back to this by the way)
Long story short, David played this harp. And the evil spirit departed.

Mm. Are you pondering what I’m pondering? I don’t know if you see the lesson I see here yet.
Music caused Saul’s deliverance. Music from an anointed man of God caused an evil spirit to pack it’s load and go.

What I’m driving at is, Music can bring you your deliverance, it can also bring about your enslavement.

This brings me to something else. Music have spirits backing them, and spirits are easily transferable.
This is why you listen to certain songs and instantly, a sexual urge
comes in.
When that happens, you should be able to discern and know the kind of spirit backing that song.
There are also songs you listen to, and instantly you feel this deep connection to God. You instantly want to go into another dimension of worship.
Again, you should know that the spirit of The Lord is backing that song.

Before I forget, the singer is important too.
Have you ever wondered why a certain musician with an amazing voice can minister a particular song in church, and you can just sit there unmoved?
Another person with an average voice will come and minister that same exact song. And you’ll be so affected by it.
It’s about the spirit backing that person.

Again. The Message
The message a song passes is SO important.
What you listen to subconsciously becomes what you’re thinking of. Like cancer, it slowly consumes all of you. So you have to be sensitive about it.
As believers, music carrying messages about sex, getting high, blowing money fast is just not appropriate.
And this is important – A song should not be considered gospel, just because the genre says it is.
What message exactly is the song passing?
Don’t forget Proverbs 4:23 says Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Don’t expose your heart to just anything.
So discern. 1 Peter 4:1 talks about testing all spirits. Music I’m sure included.

One last thing. 1 Corinthians 10:31 says that whatever we do, we should do it all to the glory of God.
And so, let the music that you listen to give glory to God.

Grateful to my friends who also helped me with this post.

I would love to know your thoughts! Leave a comment, send an email. Tweet @ me. Anything.

This is hands down one of my favourite chapters of the bible.

28 β€œIf you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world. 2 You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God:

3 Your towns and your fields
will be blessed.
4 Your children and your crops
will be blessed.
The offspring of your herds and flocks
will be blessed.
5 Your fruit baskets and breadboards
will be blessed.
6 WHEREVER YOU GO, WHATEVER YOU DO you will be blessed.
7 β€œThe Lord will CONQUER YOUR ENEMIES when they attack you. They will attack you from ONE direction, but they will scatter from you in SEVEN!

8 β€œThe Lord will guarantee a blessing on EVERYTHING YOU DO and will fill your storehouses with grain. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.

9 β€œIf you OBEY THE COMMANDS of the Lord your God and walk in his ways, the Lord will ESTABLISH YOU as his holy people as he swore he would do.
10 Then all the nations of the world will see that you are a people claimed by the Lord, and THEY WILL STAND IN AWE OF YOU.

11 β€œThe Lord will give you prosperity in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you, blessing you with many children, numerous livestock, and abundant crops.
12 The Lord will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do. YOU WILL LEND TO MANY NATIONS, but you will NEVER NEED TO BORROW from them. 13 If you listen to these commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today, and if you carefully obey them, the Lord will make you THE HEAD AND NOT THE TAIL, and you will always be ON TOP and NEVER AT THE BOTTOM.
14 You must not turn away from any of the commands I am giving you today, nor follow after other gods and worship them.

Powerful. Isn’t it?
All of these blessings if you would only obey the Lord’s commands.

I pray that God gives us the grace to always obey His commandments.
In Jesus name, Amen!

Do not be afraid; keep on speaking. Do not be silent.

“Ehenn? So what is your business with what I’m doing?”
“Who are you to tell me that what I’m doing is wrong?”
“Face your God and I’ll face my my God”
People even say worse things.

And so you give up. You just stop trying. That initial zeal you had to tell people about The Lord begins to wane.
The face your God, let me face my God mentality becomes your own.
You actually start to think.
Who am I to tell him that there’s more to life than clubbing and wild parties?
She’s sleeping around, so what? Why should I advice her? Besides, I really don’t know the circumstances behind it.
I’m better off serving God on my own.

No, darling. No, No, No. Don’t. It is our responsibility as Christians and children of God to let the people around us see the light that we have seen. No one said it was going to be easy, sweetheart.

Going back to the Old Testament, The Lord gave Prophet Ezekiel a mandate. (Ezekiel 33:7-9)

As Christians, we all have that same mandate to be watchmen and watch-women for Christ.
The Lord told Ezekiel that He will hold him responsible for the people who he didn’t warn, and then died in their sins. Hm.
When you see someone walking in a path that is not of God and is leading to destruction, talk to them. Advice them. Stand up for what you know is the truth.
But like Apostle Peter advices in 1 Peter 3:15, do it with gentleness and respect.

The bible tells us that he who wins a soul is wise. (Proverbs 11:30)
Today, make that wise decision to rescue somebody from the jaws of the enemy.

Girls, A different look at Make Up.

Girls, A different look at Make Up.

I love Make Up, and really it has become so important in our everyday life as girls.
We study it, we watch videos on YouTube, we look at tutorial videos on Instagram, and all the likes.
In that same way, girls. Let’s study the word of God.
Hebrews 4:12 tells us the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword..
Let’s study and study the word. It is the spiritual food that allows you grow.

After watching these make up tutorials, we apply it. It’s not always perfect, it doesn’t always look as good as it did in the YouTube video, but we keep trying. We try until we achieve something as close to perfection as we can.
In that way, after studying the Word darlings, let’s apply it in our lives.
It might seem a bit hard to do, (just like most of us thought contouring our faces would be difficult) but eventually. Eventually, you’ll see how it easy it is.
And just like James 1:22 advices, in this way we become not just hearers, but doers of the word.

Allow the word transform your life girl! You see how much nicer you look with well drawn brows so it becomes an everyday routine.
In that same way, don’t stop reading the Word. Keep going babygirl, don’t stop.

You know what else? After applying all of the make up and getting good at it, we trade make up tips with our friends. We talk about how Mac makes great lipsticks and NYX works better for foundation.
In this same way, discuss the word with your friends. Learn from each other, God gives us different insights.
Iron sharpens iron; and one man sharpens another, Proverbs 27:17 says.

Oh and when you see some of your friends with horribly drawn brows, oh gosh! You just cringe and want them to know how to do it. And so you teach them.
Which is also how whenever we see people who aren’t walking in the Word, we instruct and show them the right way to go.
Don’t leave the work to just the make up artistes who make the tutorial videos, or in this case the pastors or ministers.
Do your part in spreading the good news.
Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
